Yes of course it's possible.
There's a solicitors' database which groups all registered lawyers in Spain. In less than a minute one can confirm if your lawyer is indeed registered one and legitimate.
As you happen to mention that you "have been approached" by a lawyer, and it hasn't actually been you who has contacted them first, I must issue a word of caution. Spanish lawyers and law firms do not cold call people. You should ask yourself how they came into possession of your personal contact details in first place. How do they have your investment details in a timeshare resort?
There are lot of scammers posing as Spanish lawyers and law firms located in Spain fleecing foreigners requesting money up front offering them class action law suits/court actions to recover time share losses, when in fact they are not even lawyers, they are just a boiler room scamming people.
