You are personally and unlimitedly responsible for a mortgage loan with all your assets both now and in the future wherever they may be located as per art 1911 of the Spanish Civil Code and as per the Mortgage Act.

If your money is safely hidden away in off shore bank accounts, no one can pursue it. If you hold assets in the UK, they can pursue them and are in fact already doing so:
