Default Our mortgage repayments have gone up in December

Hi, I live in Barcelona and we bought our apartment two and a half years ago now. I was wondering if you could help us. At the start of December we recieved our new mortgage repayments. We were very surprised when we saw that the payments had risen by over €100 from 5.8% upto 6.25% do you know why our repayments would have risen when we were expecting them to go down with the current euribor rates. Our mortgage is set on the euribor plus 1%. Could you let us know why you think that the rate would have risen. Thank you, Andy

    Dear Sir,

Perhaps your mortgage was resetted at the end of December 2008 and they took as reference the 2 prior months (October) which happened to be the highest historically.

Naturally it has gone up, not down.

    You should check:

1.- When was your mortgage reset.
2.- What month was chosen as reference.

Please read our article on the matter.
