How long to get a deposit back?

Hi,
I have been renting in spain for the last few years and each time I have moved out of a property I have got my deposit back the same day or within a few days of moving. I am in the process of moving now and have seen a property that I am very interested in however the agent has told me that the deposit goes to the landlord and when I move out he has 1 month afterwards to return it to me. Is there a time limit as to how long after I vacate that the landlord has to return the deposit? Thanks Ray
