What do i do when i am refused resident permit during renewing

I have 5yrs resident permit in Spain and it just expired. I actually applied for renewal but i was give NO FAVORABLE. And the reason that i was given is that i have not be working., as i only work for only 6 months because thats what showed on my Vida De Laboral. Please can i do?

I have been a legal resident in Spain for nearly 5 years. My residence card expires next month and I will be applying for permanent residence before then. I was made redundant last year, but have been in the process of setting up a business in Spain while drawing unemployment and living on my redundancy payout. I have not yet registered the company nor have I registered as 'autonoma'. I will be starting this process this week.

How will this affect my application for permanent residence?
