Hello,
I’m a Cuban-born U.S. citizen seeking to get my Spanish citizenship. I was trying to acquire my Spanish citizenship through Ley De La Memoria, but I recently discovered that the time to do so has expired. It was virtually impossible to get my grandfather’s records since I didn’t know exactly where he was born in the Canary Islands before he immigrated to Cuba but I traveled to Cuba this past month and was able to contact some relatives still living there who found documentation pertaining to his Spanish citizenship and subsequent immigration to Cuba. I believe that I have sufficient proof of his Spanish citizenship and would like to acquire the same. Can an appeal be made on my behalf to the Spanish consulate or legislators to allow me to still apply through La Ley De La Memoria? I have a paper trail that shows I've been working on this since August 26, 2010. If this is not possible, what are the steps to acquire my Spanish citizenship and would you be able to represent me
