Changing residencia, new rules?

Hi,

I have been living in Spain now for over a year. I have just rented a new property in a different town. What do I need to do with regards to my existing NIE and residencia? And do 'new' rules apply?

Hello Cabbage,

If your residence permit is bound to a specific province as it is a salaried residence permit, you must apply for a modification at the corresponding Immigration Office. You can check the requirements in the Hoja Informativa Nº 95 (http://extranjeros.empleo.gob.es/es/InformacionInteres/InformacionProcedimientos/documentos2/95.pdf)of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security website. If it is not limited, or you are an EU citizen, you only have to register at the Town Hall and get a certificado de empadronamiento that will allow you change the address at any time if you wish, by going to the closest Police Station.
