Default Working Remotely in Spain on Non-lucrative Visa

    Hi Everyone,

I'm curious as to find out if anyone has any experience with working remotely on a non-lucrative visa in Spain? I am an American citizen and work as a translator. I'm planning on moving to Spain in the next year and have read conflicting information about working on this type of visa. Can anyone give me a DEFINITIVE answer on whether or not one can work remotely?

    Thank you!

    Hello Gabesturges

You can work remotely from Spain on a Non Lucrative visa as long as you are not regarded as a worker in Spain ( not registered at the Social Security system or Tax office as a worker ); that is, your are not carrying out any economic activity in Spain, your clients are not based in Spain mainly, so that you basically generate your income out of Spain., regardless the fact that, as a Spanish resident, you will have to declare your worldwide income in Spain every year at the yearly Income Tax declaration.
