Default Authencity of a Spanish Lawyer

Is it possible to check the authencity of a Spanish Lawyer? I have been approached by a Lawyer who is offering to sue a Spanish Timeshare Company for fraud. The main problem is that they are asking for a fee of £10,000 up front. They have a Malaga address.

    Dear Sir,

    Yes of course it's possible.

There's a solicitors' database which groups all registered lawyers in Spain. In less than a minute one can confirm if your lawyer is indeed registered one and legitimate.

As you happen to mention that you "have been approached" by a lawyer, and it hasn't actually been you who has contacted them first, I must issue a word of caution. Spanish lawyers and law firms do not cold call people. You should ask yourself how they came into possession of your personal contact details in first place. How do they have your investment details in a timeshare resort?

There are lot of scammers posing as Spanish lawyers and law firms located in Spain fleecing foreigners requesting money up front offering them class action law suits/court actions to recover time share losses, when in fact they are not even lawyers, they are just a boiler room scamming people.

I strongly suggest you read the following articles/posts written by us to avoid a potential scam specially if you’ve been cold called and they are requesting money up front from you:

    Dear Sir/Madam,

We take no stance on this company, we leave forum lurkers to make their own minds being factual in everything we write.

The lawyer you mention is duly registered at Malaga's Bar Association. This company may then be outsourcing work over to him.

Perhaps you should post this on their own thread:

I have received a letter through the Australian Post re an unclaimed inheritence worth $12.8 million US dollars. I just happen to have the same last name. Sounds like a scam. Wanted to check with a register of lawyers in Spain but cannot find one.

The lawyer is "Marcos Diego Asociados" and is signed by Javier Mata. They have a website with pictures etc.

Am I right in suspecting these people as scammers? Thank you for your time.
