Hello Omidbanaeian,

Holding a Non Lucrative Residence permit in Spain allows you to reside in Spain - without permission to carry out any economic activity - enjoying the same benefits as any other Spanish resident and being able to freely travel within the Schengen States, therefore saving time and money in applying for visas.

You must spend at least 183 days per year in the country so you do not lose your residency status and can renew the card when the Law stipulates it ( 1 year - 2 years - 2 years ). After 5 years of legal residency you are entitled to apply for a Long stay residence permit that is to be renewed every 5 years and then, after 10 years of legal residency, you will qualify to apply for Spanish citizenship by Residency. You can check all this information on the current Immigration Law, Chapter II:

Ley Orgánica 4/2000, de 11 de enero, sobre derechos y libertades de los extranjeros en España y su integración social (http://http://noticias.juridicas.com/base_datos/Admin/lo4-2000.html).
